Our ‘eco-conscious’ approach!
At eGynaecologist, we have embraced digital technology, innovations and artificial intelligence to modernise the gynaecological care. The medical advancements in genomics, digital therapeutics or technological ascent of robotics together with data driven algorithms is stretching sciences to new heights but on the other hand environmental challenges of climate change is threatening the very essence of human health. There is a need for us to adapt!
We are proud to share how our platform is redefining gynaecological care by incorporating eco-friendly sustainability in our service delivery, without compromising on quality of care or compassion.
Your environmental responsibility
Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of our time, and the healthcare sector bears a significant responsibility contributing approximately 4-5% of global carbon emissions.
Traditional in-person medical appointments involve patient travel, staff commuting, traffic congestion, waste generation, and significant energy consumption—all of which add to carbon emissions. Published research demonstrates that telemedicine consultations can reduce carbon emissions by 40-70% compared to face-to-face appointments, primarily through eliminating travel-related emissions. Studies have indicated an average emission saving of roughly 1.1 kg to 7.7 kg CO2e per primary care consultation when shifted to telemedicine appointment, whereas other reports suggest 85–95% reductions in patient travel-related emissions, with 15–25 kg CO2e saved per hospital consultation.
At eGynaecologist, these findings have been translated into routine clinical practice through a structured tele-gynaecology model of ‘Green Pathway” in which remote consultations form the default pathway for appropriate initial assessments and follow-up care. This approach is supported by:
- Careful patient selection and triage
- Use of validated history-taking frameworks
- Remote diagnostic pathways, including self-collection test kits
- Clear escalation to face-to-face care where clinically indicated
The integration of tele-gynaecology into routine outpatient care is clinically safe, evidence-based, and environmentally responsible service model. By integrating remote consultations into standard pathways, we can improve access, maintain clinical quality, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of healthcare systems.
Every remote encounter represents a small but measurable step towards protecting both women’s health and planetary health. Our ‘Carbon Clock’ – a real-time tracker shows the cumulative carbon savings achieved by our patients.
