Mr Umar Hussain is currently practicing as Consultant Obstetrician, Gynaecologist & Urogynaecologist at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust since 2022. He has previously been a consultant in East of England and London having been awarded of Certificate of Completion of Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (CCT) in 2013.
He has had all his specialty training in the UK, mainly across London and East of England. He was awarded membership of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (MRCOG) in 2011.His senior specialist and advanced training was at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he completed his Advanced Training Skills Module and Fellowship in Urogynaecology and Pelvic Floor Medicine.
He is registered with the British Society of Urogynaecology (BSUG) in line with the national requirement and recommendation for the role of a Urogynaecologist in the UK. He is also an affiliate member of International Urogynaecological Association (IUGA) and International Continence Society (ICS).
He has acquired specialist training in Endoanal Ultrasound and Anorectal Manometry at Croydon Urogynaecology and Pelvic Floor Reconstruction Unit and has been providing Perineal / OASI services to women who have sustained obstetric anal sphincter injuries during childbirth.
He has the experience of running specialist urogynaecology clinics with access to pelvic floor physiotherapy as well as continence services in the same clinic. He has been running urodynamics clinic in addition to conducting one-stop clinic with urodynamics and clinical consultation in one setting.
He has developed skills and competence in Ambulatory Urogynaecology with a focus on improving and enhancing patient care and experience in an outpatient setting.
He has been actively involved in teaching and training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is educational and clinical supervisor to Speciality and Trust Grade trainees. He is an MRCOG examiner and has been running local as well as international courses for MRCOG preparation.
Mr Hussain has made national and international level oral and poster presentations within Gynaecology as well as Urogynaecology.
